Most of the Christians I’ve talked to, including my family members, refuse to believe Climate Change is real. They say they don’t believe anything scientists say. It’s crazy. I just don’t understand why. Can someone explain it to me? I can understand if you don’t believe in Evolution because it goes against your beliefs. I don’t agree with that, but I understand the reason. But Climate Change? What’s the reason?
i dont know, but an idea to put forward to them, is that the idea of stuardship is allthrough the bible and if they dont believe in climate change, they are actualy going against what their belovard bible says
First off, not all Christians are global warming deniers. Some are actually rather enlightened individuals. Unfortunately, these are the minority and seem to be a dying breed.
Some Christians believe they are supposed to be good stewards of the earth, and that usually means not destroying its atmosphere and ecosystem.
I’ve noticed a lot of 7th Day Adventists are good environmentalists. This is because most of them eat a vegetarian/vegan diet and meat consumption is pretty hard on the environment and livestock contribute to global warming!
The problem with some people is, they listen to Rush Limbaugh and James Inhofe and for some bizarre reason, see them as experts on, well just about everything. Do you have a degree in climatology Mr. Inhofe? Limbaugh? No? Thats what I thought.
Plus, if you want some really greatarsenall for debating the pros/cons of environmentalism with Christians, there are Bible quotes to back you up! The links will take you to those sites.
This one is probably my favorite:
Isaiah 11:9 – "They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea."
Anyway, there really is not good reason other than people are comfortable with the status quo and since the more severe effects of this mass extinction (we are experiencing a mass extinction and it is an undeniable fact) may take 50-100 years to happen. Which means we will either be very old or very dead when the proverbial sh*t hits the fan.
So any changes we make today, may not be so fun for us, and may involve some hard work, but it may spare future generations a lot of grief. It may, in fact save the human race from being just another species that goes extinct. So it really is a moral issue.
Unless of course, they get their rocks off on the idea of catostrophic climate change and see it as another sign of the Rapture.
And before you can say beam me up Scotty, they may have completely tuned you out. I would focus more of my energy on people who genuinely care about the future of this planet. And they are out there if you look hard enough. I just don’t know if there are enough of us to make a noticeable difference.
And try out some of those Bible verses and see if they make a difference; it doesn’t hurt to try, right?
Because the politicians who tell them climate change is not real also claim to be Christians.
It is an incorrect, bastardized version of logic.
You said it .yourself: "They say they don’t believe anything scientists say"

Rapture!
The climate changes all the time. If they don’t believe in that then they’re just uneducated.
Also, if they don’t believe in evolution than they’re uneducated. Evolution is proven and heavily backed by science. It’s not a belief, it’s a fact.
climate change seems to be happening.
It is likely because we, the human race, is not living up to what God wanted us to be: the caretakers of this planet
This atheist believes climate change is real. Whether man is causing it or not, however, is another story. The climate has been cooling and warming for eons, and man has had nothing to do with it.
They are probably creationists, who are not the sharpest tools in the shed.
I do not believe that "most’ Christians are the ignorant fundie kind.
Most people I know believe that there is climate change but it is not man made and part of the way God made this world.
No, don’t worry. The polar caps are melting, the polar bears dieing, the Eskimos drowning, and my beach house is now a floating shack. But I can safely say that Climate Change isn’t real. I know this because the Bible doesn’t mention it. Besides, the end times will be here soon, so relax.
Pastor BS
I think you mean global warming. I am a christian and I know climate change is real. I see Spring, summer, fall and winter every year. Its also not true that we don’t believe everything scientists say. We are just skeptical with some of it.
Climate change is consistent with the Bible and its "End Times" prophesies. There isn’t any Biblical preclusion for artificial and extreme climate change to the earth.
God bless you.
Luke 21
On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.
I think most US citizens don’t believe in human-caused global climate change, and since most people in the US are Christians…there you go. The two don’t go hand-in-hand naturally. If there’s an explanation beyond the fact that statistically, most people who have any opinion about climate change are Christians, then I think you’d be getting into the links between religiosity and right-wing political beliefs. Otherwise, I think it’s more of an indicator of how well indoctrinated (and poorly informed) US citizens are in general.
You need to get out more.
It seems you have a narrow view of what Christians think. This is likely a product of your environment.
Where I come from, our views as Christians are more open than what you might expect. I don’t hold with young earth creationists. I believe climate change is a clear and present danger.
2 reason.
First they were told it wasn’t real by conservative politicians (who are in the back pocket of oil companies)
second, they believe the world is only 6000 years old and the climate data goes back further than that…therefore in the fundie mind it must not be true.
What about the Ice Age? Humans did not cause that, but it happened.
The Northern lands show evidence that they were once tropical. Who caused that?
The Earth is always changing.
I get a kick out of how the melting of the glaciers is considered a horrible thing, caused by us. I live near quite a few glaciers, and in the summer, it reaches the high 20′s C and sometimes even 30 C. Of course they are going to melt. Duhh.
A lot of people are going to become VERY rich off of the carbon trade.
I am Christian and I know it is real.I used to live in the northwestern part of N.C.
We used to get cold weather from the first of October tot he middle of April. It would start frosting in October and we’d get a few good snows each winter and maybe one or 2 ice storms.1996 it snowed in January then we got an ice storm.Nothing much the next 2 yrs.In the middle of may in 98 it frosted on the car one morning and we had a few cook weeks in the middle of July, then warm weather all winter.I rarely saw frost if at all and went to work in the middle of Dec. and January without a coat!
It stayed like this for 16 yrs.It snowed this past winter down home.
Maybe it is a cycle, maybe not. Here in Fargo, they said we only get flooded every hundred yrs but it has flooded 3 times in the last 13 yrs.
The polar ice caps on mars is melting and sun spot activity has kicked up.There is also talk of a planet X that may be affecting our orbit.
I am sure pollution is affecting it somewhat, but I doubt it is the entire blame.
it was absolutely proven that Climate Gate proved global warming was a fraud.
Is a fraud.
the weather and climate continuously changes all the time.
the testimonies of scientists, who calculate the global warming statistics, Prove that global warming statistics are lies. i have listened to many hourss of testimony.
it legal incorrect NOW to say global warming since the fraud was proven to be a hoax, now you cant literally say global warming without being subject to law suits. Climate change is now a legal basis of Personal Opinion.
we do not believe in global warming
climate changes all the time
I believe that this world is wearing out. The Bible compares the end time of this earth to a woman going through labor pains and more intense as it gets closer to the end. Jesus let us know His kingdom is not of this world. That being said I don’t recall Jesus giving us permission to destroy the earth. In Isaiah 14:16,17 it is very clear that Satan is behind destroying the world, cities, governments, and not releasing his prisoners. I don’t care to be on his side. I do have a hard time understanding how people can be ignorant of facts and science going on in their lifetime. We can see and measure the changes in our lifetime as well as seeing the environmental factors involved. Revelation 7:1-3 is interesting in that is says to "Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads." It also described 4 angels standing on the 4 corners of the earth, holding back the 4 winds. It appears to me that God is merciful in not allowing the earth to give up on us yet after the way we’ve mistreated it. He is giving us time to accept Him. Amazing Facts with Doug Batchelor has some great online Bible studies if you have questions. You can pray Psalms 51 every day if you feel like you’ve lost your relationship to God. It’s a prayer that Jesus loves to answer.
