Global Warming & Climate Change Rotating Header Image

Which do you think is more certain, that climate change exists, or that it is caused by human activity?

You may think the second hypothesis would always be less certain because it presumes the result of the first. This is not the intention of the question. You should presume that if climate change is certain, what is the probability it is caused by human activity?

Being that any number of factors, primarily solar output, can be pointed at as the cause of "climate change"*, I’d say blaming things on people is selling the Earth short.

She’s got a bit more power than even some of the tree-sitting types give ‘er credit for.

That being said, when was the last time you saw a graph, chart, table, or, well, ANYTHING that compared solar output to average global temperature?

Perhaps it’s because there’s no money in the truth, but there IS plenty of money in making people pay for a non-solution to an imaginary problem.

Research: It’s not just for discoveries anymore, it’s a lifetime paycheck!

*A term coined after someone reminded Al Gore his primary climate adviser had a nice report in Newsweek several years ago detailing a coming ice age.

Yeah, the two are not mutually exclusive. So yes, I think the second is less certain because it presumes the first, and, in fact, I’m right.
If it’s "not the intention of the question", write the question as you intend, rather than restating the original question, and you might get an answer written as you intended it.

There is no question that climate changes. We have been living in one of the rare relatively stable times. There is also a certainty that humans have an effect but it would be impossible to say we caused any change since climate normally changes and the effect from humans is probably so small that it is just noise in the climate models.

I believe that humans are causing most of the damage to the environment. There are so many things I could go into like the atmosphere and so much more. Humans have invented machines that cause so much damage to the environment but since it gains them money, humans dont really care… I don’t think that climate change would have suddenly hit us as being a danger. We should have realised it so long ago if it were true. Yea, this is kind of out of order…

  5. Steve P says:

    That climate change exists.

I am not even disputing that humans can cause some degree of warming.

I do not think that humans are capable of causing catastrophic warming.

  6. Common Sense says:

The earths climate has been warming / cooling / changing
for billions of years and will continue to do so forever.
The current warming trend has been influenced to some
    degree by man.
Big Algore, the Jesse Jackson of environmentalists, is making
a fortune hyping Global warming. Just as Jesse does by promoting racism.
    The sky is not falling.
Man will adapt . We may have to move and change some
agricultural crops and practices but we will be fine.

  7. CrazyConservative says:

Climate change is a certainty. The climate has NEVER remained the same. We only think it should because we look at such a minute time frame compared to the earth.

Humans have no significant contribution to the earths warming or cooling.

  8. JOHNNIE B says:

Is that what U want or U actually looking for the truth…

  9. GABY says:

Everyone knows climate change exists. It has been changing up and down for millions of years.

AGW is a good theory. Time will tell.

  10. peter.jungmann says:

    The climate has always changed.

    Can we change it? No.

  11. James E says:

The myth part is that industry caused it. During the Holocene, Roman, medieval warm periods it was up to 5c warmer than our 1998 spike of the modern climate optimum. So this if we take the mean between the two recorded and documented extremes means we are currently on the cold side of the mean temperature and to reach the true climate mean of the last 4,000 years of recorded history our climate needs to rise another 1c. To reach the average temperatures of the previous 4 recorded optimums the climate needs to rise by close to 4c. So I think instead of complaining we are not freezing our toes off you should be thankful we are in a nice warm but not to warm climate optimum. Do some research and study away from the political alarmist sites that only want to panic people into making mistakes in judgement that will enhance their profits financially and politically.

  12. Dana1981, Master of Science says:

There is no question that the planet is warming, and that this is causing its climate to change.

There is very very little question that humans are causing the vast majority of this warming and climate change. But it’s not 100% certain.

Therefore, it’s more certain that climate change is happening.

  13. Amy Elric :D says:

umm not sure if this is what ur askin but watever.
Climate changes by itself but human activity has increased this change and made it worse.
