Global Warming & Climate Change Rotating Header Image

What is Global Climate Change? What is Global Warming? What is the difference?

I believe Climate Change is a natural occurrence: Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring.
I believe Global Warming is the entire world heating up, although I do not believe in it.

I would like to know your definition of the two. This extra question is not necessary to answer: according to your definition, do you believe either of them is occurring?

I don’t think there is any difference between the two. They are just two different terms to describe the same thing.

As I understand it, climate change is the preferred (and more accurate) description.

  2. Jeff M says:

Climate change and Global Warming are the same thing. The reason why people now call it climate change as opposed to global warming is because disbelievers argue semantics as proof it isn’t happening. They expect a rise in .7C over the last centuries will drastically effect the weather cycles and use the fact that it’s snowing where they live is proof that global warming is false. In reality, the globe IS getting warmer, the ice caps on both poles ARE melting. Other weather patterns, such as the arctic oscillation which is the reason why it is snowing in the US and Europe and why it is exceptionally warm in the Arctic, are still occurring and have an effect on local temperatures. I don’t know how people can state "Oh the globe is now cooling!" when global temperature measurements are increasing, crops are having to be grown earlier every year, ice sheets are melting and so on. IT’s like their staring reality right in the face and disregarding it.

  3. Paul B says:

The words mean what they say. Global warming means average world temperatures increasing. Global climate change is a better expression because it also includes local variations and things like precipitation and storms, as well as temperature, and because it avoids using language that seems to beg the question.

There is a smear going around that naughty scientists have just changed the words from "global warming" to "global climate change" because it’s snowing at the moment. That’s plain silly. I never heard of and International Panel on Global Warming.

  4. Lizz says:

I do not believe either is occurring. Like you said, climate change is basically just the weather but people say it’s something else when it really isn’t.
Global Warming definition to me: A hoax that got some politicians (I don’t want to say names, I don’t like having haters) rich and famous.
Climate Change: The weather. Nothing to worry about since it’s been happening since the beginning of time.

  5. Randy & Lori says:

Yes I believe it is occurring natural yes drastic don’t know but when the pendulum swings how fast can it change and can we (mankind) survive it I don’t know and neither do the experts.

  6. Freethinker says:

Climate change is natural, and yes it’s kind of happening. Global warming is bs, and it’s not happening, and Al Gore is a huge frigging jackass.

  7. Bob says:

The term "climate change" was the original, used by scientists because it’s more descriptive of what’s going on, which involves far more than simple warming.. In the 1980s someone invented the catchy phrase "global warming". It caught on, and now the two terms are often used interchangeably, if incorrectly.

It doesn’t really matter what’s "right" or logical, it’s just the way things are. People can talk about the difference between the terms theoretically, but that’s not how they’re used.

  8. ducky 693 says:

    Climate change is Global Warming.
Its just that "climate change" is the more preferred term, since it is more accurate.

I believe that mankind is influencing the environment. There is so much overwhelming evidence.
Such as deforestation and the hole in the ozone. Over the last hundred years the world’s climate has gotten warmer at an alarming rate.

  9. Richie says:

Global Climate Change is the ever changing climate. Global Warming is natural warming that has generally been taking place since the end of the last ice age. The IPCC proposes that their AGW theory proves that man is responsible for increasing the natural rate of warming but they keep their data private and scientific theory is really flawed as it doesn’t stack up with observations and is so wide in its predictions it doesn’t mean anything.

There are many scientists working on studies that base their body of work on the fact that the IPCC have allegedly proved that the planet is warming faster than it does naturally for example to show that we will suffer more hurricanes (Unproven), Earthquakes(Unproven) Warmer winters and summers(Disproved), etc but the data is of a dubious nature anyway and their conduct is severely questionable.

The complete body of science will collapse if the actual data is ever made public and the warming is shown to be within normal parameters.

  10. shabbar07@yahoo.co.in says:

climate change : The drastic increase in global climate and fluctuations in climate due to various environmental factors is called climate change.

Global warming : environment have co2 available in 350 ppm thats stable numerical but when it increases more than 350 ppm then it cause problems so overall warming of earth due to high temperatures is global warming.

  11. Don't Panic says:

Global warming causes climate change. In other words, climate change is the effect of global warming.

That’s why scientists like to use the term climate change, because it’s not the warming that we’re worried about, it’s the changing climate, that is changing, because of the warming.

    Is it clear now?
