What can our families do to help stop global warming?

(this is for a school presentation)

What is the greenhouse effect?

What will happen in the next 10 and 30 years if we don’t stop global warming?

What can our families do to help stop global warming?
I only got useless answers the day i needed this, so i suppouse i’ll let the crowd pick the best answer. Good Luck!

Let’s take this in order of true importance:

Greenhouse Effect: the gases that make up our atmosphere are a great combination that trap heat and moisture making life on the planet possible. Without them, life would never have developed much less evolved into what we know today. That combination has varied significantly in it’s composition and has yet to destroy the planet.

Global Warming (& Cooling) A natural state of affairs – http://www.scotese.com/climate.com that has flip-flopped at least 4 times in the last 2 Billion (that’s a B!) years. Read the discussion re: ice house and hot house and then look at the display at the bottom of the page to note that the planet has spent the major portion of that 2 billion years at 13 or so deg C higher than it is today and there were no SUV’s, oil burning or civilizations around to cause it.

    Man-made GW ain’t!

  2. Randall E says:

Some gases trap heat. CO2 is one such gas, a weak heat-trapper.

We can’t "stop global warming" – we have no control over the climate. Nothing’s going to happen in either 10 or 30 years. And they’ve been saying "we’ve got ten years" since the mid-1990s, and the world’s still here.

Our families can’t change the climate.

  3. cresent5 says:

i don’t think that one or a few families can change anything: but you can start bysaving energy and keeping the inside of your house cold. also try not to use your car because fuel pollutes the air; refrigeraters also damage our o-zone layer as well, so don’t leave them open. that’s all i have!

  4. Bopper says:

I just watched a special and a lot of scientist admitted that they were wrong about global warming. The earth is amazing just as we are.

Climate change however is still an issue but one we probably won’t be able to stop. Everything happens in cycles and they don’t expect huge changes for about fifty years. Then supposedly the world will be in for some "big" changes.

joniell poster below- You have to be joking about the cow’s. Have you ever been around a cow? I have and that’s just funny because they don’t fart ALL DAY. lol maybe we need more trees!

  5. joneill1186 says:

these two things to do are so big you should start writing this down now……

1.) Throw your car into the closest lake, river, or ocean so you wont drive it anymore. Cars are terrible. IF you even THINK about driving a car anywhere, you should feel bad.

    2.) KILL COWS

its been proving through a bunch of studies that cows arent helping this so called global warming thing. COWS are a huge problem because they fart ALL DAY LONG, which results in tremendous amounts of methane which is terrible.

so to recap, if your family gets rid of all their cars and just uses bicycles, but be careful not to breathe too much because CO2 is released then too, you should be ok. You also need to make cow killing clan to elimate the threat of cows….

or if you are doing something serious you can say just conserving enerygy. maybe ride your bike to the store instead of drive if it isnt too far. walk to a buddies house, carpool instead of having 4 people drive their cars to the same place. There are lots of little things you can do that mostly just is conserving energy. Think of ways your family can conserve energy.

The greenhouse effect is that the ozone has trapped the gases inside the earth (or i guess surronding the earth) close to it and its kind of like a green house (hence the name) where it stays relatively warm inside the place because HEAT IS KEPT IN

    1) a natural process in which heat from the sun is trapped by the Earth’s atmosphere near the Earth’s surface.

2)It will make life just uncomfortable enough that maybe people will slow down and think what they’re doing to the climate.

    3) Start a no idling rule in the carpool lane at your school. Start a campaign to replace all light bulbs in your school with compact fluorescents. Have students work with local businesses to get them donated or hold a bake sale, etc. to raise money to buy them. Set a goal and calculate the emissions saved. The Down-to-Earth Guide to Global Warming is a comprehensive resource to help young readers (ages 8 and up) understand the science of global warming and how we can work together to stop it.

  7. Naruto says:

Greenhouse effect is the process of which the Carbon Dioxide is trapped in something (the Earth’s CO2 is trapped by the atmosphere).

It is most likely that the ozone layer will be broken and the ultra violet rays from the sun will instantly give you sunburn, kill plants immediately, melt metals, ocean evaporation, and many more

Best way to help and try to stop global warming: You’re not gonna believe me, but to kill a humans life form. They are the ones that unbalanced the nature, global warming in nature isn’t suppose to go this high, it should go up little and go back down.

  8. Rockstar101 says:

    GREENHOUSE EFFECT
The greenhouse effect is the rise in temperature that the Earth experiences because certain gases in the atmosphere (water vapor, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane, for example) trap energy from the sun. Without these gases, heat would escape back into space and Earth’s average temperature would be about 60ºF colder. Because of how they warm our world, these gases are referred to as greenhouse gases.
Have you ever seen a greenhouse? Most greenhouses look like a small glass house. Greenhouses are used to grow plants, especially in the winter. Greenhouses work by trapping heat from the sun. The glass panels of the greenhouse let in light but keep heat from escaping. This causes the greenhouse to heat up, much like the inside of a car parked in sunlight, and keeps the plants warm enough to live in the winter.
The Earth’s atmosphere is all around us. It is the air that we breathe. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere behave much like the glass panes in a greenhouse. Sunlight enters the Earth’s atmosphere, passing through the blanket of greenhouse gases. As it reaches the Earth’s surface, land, water, and biosphere absorb the sunlight’s energy. Once absorbed, this energy is sent back into the atmosphere. Some of the energy passes back into space, but much of it remains trapped in the atmosphere by the greenhouse gases, causing our world to heat up.
The greenhouse effect is important. Without the greenhouse effect, the Earth would not be warm enough for humans to live. But if the greenhouse effect becomes stronger, it could make the Earth warmer than usual. Even a little extra warming may cause problems for humans, plants, and animals

    Global Warming!

I think it will be very hot on earth lots of animals would go extinct (polar bears). Also alot of ecosystems will be distored (Tundra no one can live there sssooo cold). Also some might be made like more deserts.Or poeple might get killed from hottness. Thats just me thinking but it might be true.

    Families help stop global warming.
You can frist of all stop using hairspray and tell other people to not to use it. Start a club to talk about what you can do to save mother earth. Sorry I cant think of anything else.

Sorry I dont have alot of info if you need more search this stuff on google there is a lot of websies about all of your questions. Sorry again!!!!! If you need any more info please dont be afraid to email me at Rockstar223@ymail.com Hope this helped and I hope you get a A+ on your school presention.

  9. James E says:

There is nothing humans can do with our current level of technology to alter the world’s climate. We are unable to make any major adjustment either hotter or colder at this time despite the claims of godlike powers by the believers. Knowing the history of the world reasonably well helps a lot to see the outright lies the promoters of AGW continually make.

    First lie.
In the last 50, 100 or 150 years temperatures have risen faster and higher than any time in history.

Truth is, in every previously recorded climate optimum period it has gotten hotter faster than it has currently. In fact the year 1400 warming went from the bottom of the wolf minimum to a peak 3c hotter than our current maximum and down to the bottom of the Sporer minimum the coldest part of the little ice age in about 100 years. Also the current climate optimum is the coldest ever recorded and is as cold as at least one historical climate minimum the Oort the came in the early part of the MWP.

    Second lie.
It has never been this hot in all of history.

Truth is that at least 3 times in the last 1,000 years it has exceeded our current temperature by up to 5c, once for several hundred years.

    Third lie
The Arctic Ocean has never been this ice free in history.

Truth is that during the Holocene, Roman and Medieval periods the Arctic Ocean was navigable most of the year most of the time. It was even more navigable during WWII than it is currently.

So it is not very difficult for anyone with a decent basic education to put the lie to any point the AGW crowd use to sell their pogrom to the less well educated.

The real problem here is believers cherry pick the evidence they want made public while skeptics feel that the general public should be allowed to learn the full truth about climate variations. Believers on the other hand only want the public to know about selected items that can be spun to favor their political pogrom.

Our families can do nothing to stop global warming. The earth isn’t warming, and the sun is more powerful than they are.

Tell your greenshirt teacher, "sorry, but you’re trying to melt my brain with this assignment. Please choose something useful, like the benefits of capitalism."

  11. Fidah M says:

    The Greenhouse Effect
Global warming is caused by an increase in the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is not a bad thing by itself — it’s what allows Earth to stay warm enough for life to survive.
Although it’s not a perfect analogy, you can think of the Earth sort of like your car sitting out in a parking lot on a sunny day. You’ve probably noticed that your car is always much hotter inside than the outside temperature if it’s been sitting there for a while. The sun’s rays enter through your car’s windows. Some of the heat from the sun is absorbed by the seats, the dashboard and the carpeting and floor mats. When those objects release this heat, it doesn’t all get out through the windows. Some is reflected back in. The heat radiated by the seats is a different wavelength than the light of the sun that made it through the windows in the first place. So a certain amount of energy is going in, and less energy is going out. The result is a gradual increase in the temperature inside your car.

I will reply to what families can do -

-To practice all the conservation we can.

    -Recycle as much as practical.

  13. co2hound says:

There is enough CO2 in the atmosphere right now to give us a boost between 1C and 2C more planetary increase in temperature. CO2 lasts for quite some time, 100s of years to 1000s of years in the atmosphere so even if we stop all CO2 emissions, cold turkey, right now, we will face another degree and a half or so.

Bottom line, there is nothing anyone, anywhere can do about global warming. It’s there already in the pipeline.

Now the question might be, how do we limit the warming to a degree or two? But that is not the question you asked.
