DEBUNKING CLIMATE CHANGE SCAREMONGERING
Loose talk about CLIMATE CHANGE, GLOBAL WARMING, CARBON DIOXIDE POLLUTION, GREENHOUSE GASES, all linked to urban pollution, stimulated a vigorous public debate when the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was convened to investigate whether carbon dioxide (CO2 ) released by human activities – added to the present inventory – would cause catastrophic “ global warming” leading to widespread climate change.
Unhealthy urban pollution was real enough to need urgent remedies, so the IPCC conspired to speed up the cleansing process by fatuously linking rising innocuous CO2 in the air to “global” temperatures. The flaws, misconstruals and omissions in this and other IPCC pronouncements are now analysed. First the pretexts, followed by rebuttals
Pretext A. Adding CO2 to the atmosphere will cause “global” warming.
Rebuttal. The opposite is true. Rising temperatures force the warming ocean, which contains 50 times more CO2 than the air, to release more water vapour and CO2 -in that order.
This exonerates all sources of CO2 from temperature and/or climate change.
Pretext B. CO2 is a dangerous pollutant emitted mainly from coal-burning installations, so it should be captured and pumped into the ocean or deep underground.
Rebuttal. CO2 is scarce and fully utilized as supplier of food and organic compounds needed for sustaining developed life. The real harmful pollutants are fine particles and sulphur dioxide in smoke. Efficient methods already exist to filter them out, so CO2 should be allowed to escape in order to augment plant growth and food production.
Pretext C. CO2 is an efficient greenhouse gas.
Rebuttal. Water vapour over low latitudes plus ice crystal clouds over the polar regions are vastly more efficient pro-active heat blocking agents able to insulate Earth from super-cold space, allowing organisms to keep warm. A flimsy 350 ppm CO2 film cannot possibly do this. The IPCC is guilty of omitting versatile water from the public debate because humans cannot alter its influence on macroclimate control.
Pretext D. Doubling CO2 from 350 ppm to 700 ppm will be fatal.
Rebuttal. During the distant past life diversified and thrived when CO2 rose to 4000 ppm
Pretext E. Global temperatures have risen linearly since the advent of industrialization.
Rebuttal. Temperatures in England rose 2o C between 1695 to 1730 in response to a sudden decrease in cosmic particle flux to end the Little Ice Age (LIA). Since then they have jumped up and down in a narrow 0.7oC range; Up between 1912 to 1940, then down to 1980, then up again to 2007. This means no correlation exists between choppy temperatures and nominally smooth human CO2 inputs. Also, such insignificant temperature oscillations cannot induce a catastrophic climate change, such as the 8o C end ice age regional warming
Pretext F. Climate change is restricted to internal factors, such as pollution.
Rebuttal. Internal factors are secondary knock-on responses to the macroclimate initiated by cosmic particle incursions into the polar regions (temperatures) and the magnetosphere (pressures) Microclimates such as city centres and tropical forests can be influenced by human activities, but they have no feedback into the omnipotent externally forced macroclimate .
As the direction of cosmic particle flux changed from north to south and vice versa the temperature of each hemisphere dropped accordingly due to damage of the ice crystal insulation caused by cosmic particles. At present Antarctica is in this cold state whereas Arctic sea ice is melting. This polar yo-yoing cannot be explained by a planet warming uniformly due to rising CO2.so it is cunningly omitted from IPCC publicity machinations.
